Premium Performance. Without a Premium Price.
While the XC5 (XC501) MTB SPD Shoes sit at the mid-point of Shimano's MTB shoe range there's nothing middling about their performance. Just like their premium XC-race shoes, this shoe also features the Shimano Dynalast upper design. This wraps the upper snuggly around the foot for optimal stability and creates an optimized toe-spring section that allows for a more efficient pedal stroke. Long-distance fatigue is also reduced as a result. This glove-like fit is then secured via the quick and precise Boa® L6 dial. This allows you to get the perfect tension across the foot for incredible comfort and foot-hold. Less fuss. More trail time.
Stiff. Light. Efficient.
With the upper delivering comfort and stability, the stiff sole, rated 7 out of 12 on Shimano's stiffness chart, ensures rapid power transfer. Accelerate into singletrack or fly up a rooty climb and enjoy that instant reaction to your power. Shimano have also ensured a low stack height, keeping your foot closer to the centre line of the pedal axle for greater stability, more natural pedalling and once more to impart optimal efficiency. If you do have to get off and run/push then the MICHELIN® tread gives unshakeable grip over any terrain.
Cleat Guidance
These shoes are compatible with MTB pedal systems, which use the 2-bolt cleat standard (SPD standard), e.g.: Shimano SPD, Time ATAC, CrankBrothers, CrankBrothers Race, Look MTB, Xtreme MTB, Wellgo MTB, Ritchey MTB.
